Dedicated to the members of the Waterloo Fire Department, who made the ultimate sacrifice, in service to the community.
Bernard "PETE" Scannell
The Waterloo Fire Department loss this great man in the line of duty. Pete Scannell gave his life while responding to a reported vehicle fire. Pete was driving the department's rescue vehicle and while responding he started to have a heart attack. Pete guided the rescue to the right hand side of the road so no one else would be injured. Waterloo FD members performed CPR on Pete until the ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital.
Pete was always there to serve his public, help his friends, be there for his fellow firefighters, and love his wife and family.
Pete is our Guardian Angle and is with us on every call as all of our fire apparatuses has a Maltese cross with the number 41 in the center in memory of Pete.
God bless you Pete! We love you and miss you!
